How does the pay structure work? (And how effective is it?)

I have several knolls in prep ready to publish, when it suddenly occured to me: I have no idea how I'm being paid. Per click? What?
So I looked it up.
Will these articles pay out via AdWords or AdSense? Or do I have my terms scrambled?

You get paid through an adsense account - you can set one up if you don't have one - just go to http://knol.google.com/k/knol/system/knol/pages/Settings#adsense when you are signed in to Google Knol.

I have added a knol yesyterday 'How to Read Russian in 75 Minutes' and have activated a new Adsense accoutn this morning.

However, ads do not appear to display at the moment, and the Knol can't be found unless I am logged in - which is an issue that needs to be explained by the guys at Google Knol.
