Google Knol has to do better than this to verify author identity.

The alternative verification method, credit card, is also USA only. What's wrong with using Google Adsense, Gmail, Google Checkout, OpenID? And why can't you verify a credit card hlders' details in seconds when that's all t takes to debit the card from any country in the world.

Come on Google, this is lame. There are people who write stuff outside America. Billions of them.
