'Knol not one of Google’s “urgent” projects?' - ZDNet Googling Google Blog

Garret Rogers writes at ZDnet's 'Googling Google' that the Knol announcement a month ago was just designed to deflect attention from Wikia Search - which, now that it's been seen to be very early and basic, the knol project is not such a high priority.

As an outside observer I was much surprised that no information was coming from Google after the first blog post one month ago. Most of the Groups created by their staff on KnolStuff got no actual incitation to attend, no member, nothing. I registered to one of these groups and sent an aggressive comment ("Hi what is the purpose of this group !") with no effect. I removed afterwards my comment and membership from that group, to keep clean !!
Garret Rogers is probably right.
Google Knol is a mirage, but this does not so matter.
If their only positive result is to reveal to authors that they have been abused by Wikimedia and that their names NEED to be acknowledged it is a great step forward. It was probably not the original Google purpose to reach this important result !!!
