How I got to Page 1 on Google in 24 hours with Google Knol.

The Google Knol I created 24th July entitled 'How to Read the Russian Alphabet in 75 Minutes' was already appearing on 25th July on Page 1 of a Google Search for "read russian" with 12,300,000 results following. I have updated the title within Knol from the one showing in the Google index, but that's still a pretty impressive result for content that I created and put online a day earlier.
And Google say they'll pay me from any adsense revenue the page generates. This is part of the reason why I was interested in Google Knol from December last year when it was first announced. Well, we'll see how it develops, but it looks like a fairly effective way to share your knowledge, get good search positions, and also perhaps make some money. Until someone pinches your content...

Seriously though, have you actually seen any revenue? My sense is that these monetized article directories are only making their creators rich, not the "content producers", as writers are called these days. I would really like to hear some honest feedback about the reality of this supposed monetization from someone who is actually in a position to comment on it.

Given your success, I'm surprised you haven't written more Knols. Or maybe you're living on a tropical island watching the Adsense checks roll in from your Russian article.
